District Sports - July
On Tuesday, children from Years 3 to 6 participated in the annual District Sports Event at John Warner Secondary School having been selected after trials in the first week of our return to school. This is most probably considered to be the most prestigious of events in the sports calendar and is always very much looked forward to by all.
After competing in heats, nearly all of the children in our team made it in the finals for their individual or team event where the points are won. A huge congratulations to all the children in our district sports team this year for coming 5th out of 10 schools. This is particularly impressive being a one form entry school and another five schools are two form entry in which we scored a super 49 points in the end!
All the children literally ran their socks off and it was great to see all our hard training and practice being rewarded in their individual and relay events. Special mention to the follow children who were placed 1st to 3rd in their finals: Joseph in year five in 1st place for the boys 80m hurdles. Bernadette in year six in 2nd place for the girls standing jump. Aurora in year four in 2nd place for the 60m girls sprint. Ryan in year four in 2nd place for the 60m boys sprint. Amelia in year four in 2nd place for the 60m girls hurdles. Tyler in year six in 3rd place for the boys standing jump. Chloe in year three in 3rd place for the girls 60m hurdles. Joseph, Ellis, Ronan and Oliver in year five in 3rd place in the boys 400m relay.
You should all be extremely proud of yourselves, your super competitive spirit and as always outstanding behaviour. Thank you to Mrs Faulkner for coming in during the summer term to take the trials and train the children each week and also to Mrs Baldwin, Mr White and Mrs Davies for their words of wisdom and positive encouragement throughout the morning. Also to all the parents who came to support all the children. It was great to see so many of you there!
