Our Aims and Values
Our Ethos:
Here at St. Augustine’s school we provide our children with a Catholic education which recognises life as a faith journey. As an integral part of our Catholic ethos, all pupils are aware, throughout the school year, of the changes and celebrations relating to the Church's Liturgical Year. We are committed to the partnership of home, school and Parish. We are a welcoming school committed to providing a high-quality education, of which the children are at the heart, and reflects the values and beliefs of our Catholic Faith. We have a distinctive Catholic identity and ethos which also encompasses a love of learning deep-rooted in our Catholic faith. Our children enjoy coming to school, living out our mission to follow in Jesus' footsteps as well as ensuring they live and learn to the best of their abilities.
Our Aims:
We believe that the purpose of St. Augustine's Catholic Primary School is to:
- help pupils to live and learn in a Catholic Christian environment leading to acceptance and respect of others in a diverse school community and wider world
- provide an environment in which high expectations will lead to a striving for excellance in all areas of school life
- educate and develop each member of the school community by building on their strengths and supporting their weaknesses
- foster purposeful relationships with those who learn in, work in and visit our school where diverse views and backgrounds are respected
- Make any decision for the best interests of all pupils, not just an individual.
Our Values:
We believe that parents and carers are the first and foremost educators of their children and that we are called to support them in their God given task. Each child in our school is valued and encouraged to achieve human wholeness – spiritually, morally, emotionally and academically in a happy, secure Christian environment. We will always do our best to provide the best possible education for every child.
“We acknowledge our responsibility to support parents in their task of nurturing their children towards human wholeness within a Christian community.”
Therefore we will:
- Demonstrate our faith and our school’s foundation in the teachings of Jesus Christ, by what we teach and the way we live and worship in our school;
- Provide a friendly and welcoming environment in which your child will feel happy and secure to learn in;
- Provide the experience of Catholic worship both in school and as part of the parish community;
- Treat your child with the dignity and respect they require, encouraging them to full human wholeness;
- Challenge your child to strive for the highest standard of personal, social and intellectual development and aim for excellence in all they do.
